Emotional Resilience

What Is It?

In a made-up word, emotional resilience is “bounce-back-ability.”

The skill of being able to deal with stressful situations, and manage them better.

We’ve all got that cousin, work-colleague, in-law, who knows how to push our buttons. We all sit in traffic daily. We’re dealing with loadshedding, inflation and an uncertain future. After a pandemic. It’s a lot!

Understanding the power that emotions have on the quality of your life is a profound experience.

Who Needs It?

All humans should be paying closer attention to their emotions. We receive an intellectual, physical and spiritual education, and very little notice is given to the feeling part of us.

  • People who deal with challenging clients and bosses.
  • People who lose their temper in the traffic.
  • Parents who are raising more emotionally literate children.
  • Humans who want to be better.

It's knowledge that's useful for anyone to have.

Why Do We Need It?

If we understand why we feel the way we do, we’re able to be aware of whether our emotional reaction to a situation is appropriate.

Can we “diffuse” them, and let it them go? Or is it appropriate to act on them?

By learning the skills to do these things, you can immediately turn down the intensity of feeling in some situations, and up the pleasure and joy in others.

What Else Will I Learn?

  • How to deal with difficult people better.
  • How to set and enforce boundaries.
  • What we can and can’t control.
  • The magical elixirs of “awareness” and “mindfulness,” and how to achieve them.
  • How to say NO, firmly and politely.
  • How to choose yourself.
  • How to increase the levels of joy in your life.
  • How to tap into your calmness.
  • Being less concerned with things that don't affect you.
  • How to have more impactful conversations.
  • Why we need emotions, and how they can help keep you healthy and happy.
  • Acceptance.
  • Surviving tough situations.

And much more.
